First of all, you must know what skin type you have – OMGS!!! You don’t know?Don’t be silly,here’s a simple test:Wash your face with water. Pat it dry and wait for 10 minutes. If you have oily skin, there will be  visible shine.If your facial skin feels tight, you have dry skin. If you have some oil in your T-zone (i.e., forehead, nose and chin); then you have combination skin.Or you may have normal skin if your skin doesn’t feel too dry or oily. You may also have sensitive skin if you flush easily,or if it’s frequently allergic.

After knowing your skin type as well as any skin conditions ,it’s time to make the choose. Here are some general guidelines:

Dry Skin

In general, avoid foaming cleansers, especially ones made with harsh surfactants

like sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS). Occasionally you can get away with

a foaming cleanser made from much more gentle surfactants like cocamidopropyl

betaine or sodium methyl cocoyl taurate.

The safest bet for dry (or sensitive) skin is a cream cleanser, an oil-based cleanser, or OCM.

Normal and Oily Skin

Can use almost any cleanser so long as it is pH balanced .  If you have very oily skin,

it may be tempting to reach for a harsh bar soap, or even dish soap (the horror!),

but a gentle foaming cleanser or a cleansing oil will serve you better in the long run.

Sensitive Skin

If your skin is a little sensitive, it may be best to choose an unscented cleanser.

In a word, a good cleanser couldn’t leave your skin feeling tight or dry after use.

1> Makeup Sponges Toss it: At least once a month

The reason: If you’re really diligent about cleaning your makeup sponges, then they can last up to a month. And even then they need to be washed after every use. Otherwise you should toss them after every application. Luckily, makeup sponges are pretty inexpensive at most online or offline stores.

2> Mascara   Toss it: Every 3 months

The reason: In order to prevent an eye infection (bacteria love to hide away in these pretty tubes), replace your mascara four times a year. Plus, by three months your mascara will likely be dried up and cakey anyway. When you’re applying mascara pumping the tube can cause it to dry out faster, instead twirl the brush inside to decrease the amount of air that gets in.

All makeup brushes are not made equal. Some are better quality than others and some have different purposes which should be observed for the best results. 1 Select the right brush for the task at hand. Use a natural bristle hair brush for the application of powdery makeup products, such as powder, blush and eyeshadow. Use a synthetic bristle brush for wet makeup application, such as creams, lipstick and foundation.

2 Avoid brushes with blunt edges. Brushes with soft, dome- shaped heads work the best for application of makeup.

3 Purchase a concealer brush. This is a trick of the trade because you are able to use it to ensure accurate application of the makeup product precisely where you want it applied.

4 Test for durability before you buy. Natural bristle brushes will easily lose the bristles with use. You can try to avoid this by ensuring that when you purchase the brush, it is strong to begin with. This means taking the tug test – pull gently on the brush in the store. If there is any evidence of hairs coming out, try a different brand.

5 Take good care of your makeup brushes. Keep them clean and dust-free. Store away from bathroom products and preferably in dust-proof locations such as a container or a bathroom cabinet. Gently wipe down makeup build-up regularly from your makeup brushes. You can use water for synthetic brushes or simply wipe with a tissue for natural bristle brushes.

Tips: The bigger and fluffier the makeup brush, the lighter its touch when applying makeup. Think of a blush or a powder brush and you will know immediately what this means.
